Women’s Cross Country Places Second at UNE Invitational

BIDDEFORD, Maine. – University of Maine at Farmington women's cross country opened the season with a strong showing at the University of New England (UNE) Invitational on Saturday afternoon with a second place team finish.

The Beavers were led by Laura Pulito (Brownfield, Maine/Fryeburg Academy) and Hannah Emery (Detroit, Maine/MCI) as each claimed top 15 finishes in today's competition. Pulito guided the team in ninth place at 21.30. Emery followed in 12th place and crossed the line at 21:42.

Gwen Baker came in 18th place with a time of 22:34. Shayna Frost (Monmouth, Maine/Monmouth Academy) placed 27th overall (23:27) and Alisha Labbe (Turner, Maine/Leavitt) was a second behind Frost in 28th place (23:28) to round out UMF's scoring.  

UMF topped St. Joseph's by one point for second place on the team leaderboard with 61 total points. UNE won its home event with 15 total points.

UMaine-Farmington travels to Johnson State to race again on September 17.
