Women’s Cross Country Nearly Grabs a Top Five Spot at Maine Collegiate Championship

BRUNSWICK, Maine --- The University of Maine at Farmington women's cross country raced its way to a sixth place finish out of twelve teams at the Maine Collegiate Championship on Saturday, hosted by Bowdoin College.

Laura Pulito led the Beavers in 49th with a time of 20:27. Emma Pidden followed Pulito in 56th and crossed the line at 20:58. Alisha Labbe was close behind in 61st at 21:18 and was only eight seconds away from landing in the top 60. Colby's Alana McDonough won the title with an overall time of 18:17 out of 174 racers. The Beavers set 16 personal best records in the 5k race.

The Beavers secured the sixth spot with 186 points and trailed the University of Southern Maine by 35 points for a top five placing on the team leaderboard. Colby won the event with 37 points and topped Bowdoin with 55 points.

UMaine-Farmington will compete in the North Atlantic Conference Championship on Saturday, October 31, hosted by Husson University.
