BANGOR, Maine – University of Maine at Farmington head women's cross country coach, Scott Hutchinson, earned his first win at the helm as the Beavers took home the crown at the 2015 Husson Invitational.
The Beavers earned a score of 52 points for the top spot, finishing two points ahead of Maine Maritime with Husson, Castleton, and Elms rounding out the top five.
Laura Pulito (Brownfield, Maine/Fryeburg Academy) led the Beavers with a seventh place finish and overall time of 22:39.14. The sophomore averaged 7:17 over the course of the 5k race. Emma Pidden (Yarmouth, Maine/Yarmouth) and Alisha Labbe (Turner, Maine/Leavitt) were close behind Pulito with a 10th and 11th place finish. Pidden crossed the line at the 23:05:11 mark with Labbe following 19 seconds later. Anna Dowling (Saco, Maine/Thorton Academy) came in 19th for UMF at 24:03:87 and Emily Franklin (Bath, Maine/Maine School of Science and Math) rounded out the scoring for the Beavers with a top 25 spot with a time of 24:38:64.
UMF claimed the Husson Invitational title by beating out eight schools in a field of 78 racers.
UMaine-Farmington will compete in the Bowdoin Invitational on Saturday, September 12.
