FARMINGTON, Maine – Colby College finished as the top women's team at the Maine Collegiate Championship on Saturday, held at Mt. Blue High School.
The Mules finished the meet with a team score of 34. The University of New England finished second with a score of 60 and Bates was close behind with 61. Bowdoin came in fourth with 112 and Southern Maine rounded out the top five with 131.
Colby College had the top two runners with Alanna McDonough and Krista Brown finished two seconds apart. McDonough crossed with a 19:23 and Brown with a 19:25. Bates' Elena Jay finished close behind with a 19: 35. UNE rounded out the top five with a 19:38 finish from Brittney Sorbello and a 19:40 final time from Tiana Thomas.
For UMF, the Beavers came in eighth out of 11 teams. The Beavers led by Kaitlin Flanders, who ran a 22:13 good enough for 56th place out of 144 finishers. Flanders was followed by Emma Pidden with a total time of 22:25 and a 59th place finish.. Alisha Labbe crossed in 76th place and a 23:09 final time.
UMaine-Farmington hits the trails on October 24th at the Thomas College Invitational.
