WENHAM, Mass. - The UMaine-Farmington women's cross country team finished with a fifth place in the Pop Crowell Invitational Saturday afternoon.
Katie Flanders led the way for the Beavers team with a 21:49, good enough for a 27th place finish out of 149 competitors.
Flanders was followed by Alisha Labbe who crossed the line with a 23:20, and a 48th place finish. Emma Pidden was five seconds behind her and finished the day with in 50th. Laura Pulito came in at 57th after completing the event with a 23:48 and Emily Franklin was right behind her in 59th with a 23:54.
"The ladies did really well today. I think this is pretty promising considering we placed a spot or two back last year. Once we get everyone back to healthy and in shape I think the women's team will be really strong. They have a strong 2-5 pack that will be tough to beat as the season continues," UMF cross country coach Joseph Staples said.
UMaine-Farmington's next meet will take place October 11, 2014 at the Saint Joseph's College Runnin' Monks Invitational.
