BANGOR, ME – The University of Maine-Farmington cross country teams opened their season this afternoon at a hot and humid Husson Invitational.
The women's team finished second even without team captain and first runner Katie Flanders who was out due to illness. Emily Franklin showed she is ready to run besting her time from last year by 2:17.
The men's team finished third behind freshman Connor Wagner, who averaged an event-best 5:53 mile in the 8k Run.
"We are a really young team but I think we showed that we have a ton of potential today," UMF cross country coach Joseph Staples said.
The teams will travel to the Bowdoin Invitational next Saturday at 11:00am.
