Husson picks up attack, picks off Beavers

FARMINGTON, Maine -- Husson University downed the University of Maine at Farmington 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-15, 25-19) in non-conference women's volleyball action tonight at Dearborn Gymnasium.

The Beavers (2-4) are scheduled to venture to Babson College Saturday to face Curry College (1 p.m.) and host Babson (3 p.m.). The Eagles (10-3) are tabbed to take on University of Maine at Fort Kent Saturday at 11 a.m.

After two sets in which the winning team rallied back from an early deficit, the Eagles took control of the match over the final pair of games with Husson attacking at a .338 clip (28-6-65). Hannah Olstad (Farmington, N.H.) led the Eagles with 19 kills, 13 of which came in the final two sets.

Shannon Mitchell (Portsmouth, N.H.) paced the Beavers with 12 kills, 10 digs, three aces and four blocks (three solo, one assist), while Amanda Mullane (Melrose, Mass.) provided eight kills  and Jen Vadnais (Arundel, Maine) and Whitney Walls (Bar Harbor, Maine) each collected 10 digs. Walls handed out 23 assists in the loss.

Following Olstad, Kelsey Burrill (Somersworth, N.H.) added 11 kills with Aleta Johnson (Milton, N.H.) setting up the duo with 33 assists. Chelly Smith (New Boston, N.H.) led all players with 13 digs for Husson.
