Beavers bounce Huskies in four sets

GORHAM, Maine -- The University of Maine at Farmington women's volleyball team notched a 3-1 (25-17, 25-18, 21-25, 25-10) non-conference win over the University of Southern Maine this evening.

The Beavers (2-3) have a week layoff before taking on Husson University in their home opener Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. The Huskies slipped to 0-2.

Shannon Mitchell (Portsmouth, N.H.) collected team-highs of eight kills, 12 digs and four aces for the Beavers, while Amanda Mullane (Melrose, Mass.) scored seven kills in an error-free attack and Jen Vadnais (Arundel, Maine) pitched in six kills.

Whitney Walls (Bar Harbor, Maine) set up UMF with 20 assists to go along with four aces.

Madalyn Terry led USM with four kills, while Annie Mitchell made 11 digs.
