Women's volleyball in straight sets over Me.-Machias

FARMINGTON --The University of Maine at Farmington women's volleyball team took down the University of Maine at Machias 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-23) in non-conference competition at Dearborn Gymnasium.

The Beavers (2-4) are scheduled to visit Husson University for a non-conference match in Bangor Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Clippers (1-5) are scheduled to visit Unity College Sept. 28 at 7 p.m..

Emily Beebe (Bristol, R.I.) notched team bests of nine kills and four service aces for the Beavers, while Jen Vadnais (Arundel, Maine) chipped in eight kills and Shannon Mitchell (Portsmouth, N.H.) provided seven kills. Katie Allen (Bucksport, Maine) passed out 25 assists for Farmington and led the team with six digs.

Trailing 23-20 in the final set, Mitchell collected a pair of service aces and a kill in helping the hosts close out the 3-0 victory.

Sabree Rodriquez led the Clippers with 10 kills, while Elisa Boyd collected 10 digs.
