Women's volleyball downed in NAC semifinals

CASTINE --The third-seeded University of Maine at Farmington women's volleyball team fell to No. 2 Husson University 3-1 in the North Atlantic Conference semifinals tonight at Maine Maritime Academy. The set scores went 25-15, 22-25, 25-18, 25-10.

The Beavers closed out their season at 9-13. The Eagles (18-5) are scheduled to face top-seeded Maine Maritime Saturday at noon for the NAC title.

Hannah Olstad (Farmington, NH) led Husson with 13 kills to go along with four blocks, while Aleta Johnson (Milton, NH) added 27 assists. Kaitlyn McKay (Lincoln, RI) was outstanding in the match, collecting eight kills, five aces, and 17 digs. With the win the eagles improve to 19-5 on the year.

Farmington was led by freshman Jen Vadnais (Arundel, ME) who had eight kills and 12 digs while Shannon Mitchell (Portsmouth, NH) chipped in with six kills and six aces. Katie Allen (Bucksport, ME) had a team high 20 assists.
