  • Women's volleyball downed in NAC semifinals

    The third-seeded University of Maine at Farmington women's volleyball team fell to No. 2 Husson University 3-1 in the North Atlantic Conference semifinals tonight at Maine Maritime Academy. The set scores went 25-15, 22-25, 25-18, 25-10. The Beavers closed out their season at 9-13. The Eagles (18-5) are scheduled to face top-seeded Maine Maritime Saturday at noon for the NAC title.
  • Mitchell named to All-NAC First Team

    University of Maine at Farmington junior middle blocker Shannon Mitchell (Portsmouth, N.H.) was named the All-North Atlantic Conference Women's Volleyball First Team as announced by the conference today. Mitchell leads the Beavers in kills (157), hitting percentage (.207), service aces (62), digs (129) and total blocks (45). The junior was recognized on the All-NAC Second Team in 2008 and 2009.

    University of Maine at Farmington middle blocker Shannon Mitchell (Portsmouth, N.H.) was named the North Atlantic Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week as announced by the conference today. Mitchell powered the Beavers to a 3-0 NAC first-round win over Johnson State with 16 kills, a .737 hitting percentage (16-1-19) and eight service aces.
  • Women's volleyball breezes by Johnson State in first round

    The third-seeded University of Maine at Farmington women's volleyball team advanced to the North Atlantic Conference championship round with 3-0 first-round victory over No. 6 Johnson State today at Dearborn Gymnasium. The set scores went 25-14, 25-19, 25-9. The Beavers (9-12) are scheduled to face No. 2 Husson University in the semifinals Friday at 8 p.m. at Maine Maritime Academy. The Badgers closed out their season at 3-18.
  • Women's volleyball scores pair of NAC wins

    University of Maine at Farmington women's volleyball wrapped up the third seed in the North Atlantic Conference Tournament with a pair of NAC wins over Green Mountain College and Castleton State College today at Dearborn Gymnasium. Farmington dispatched Green Mountain 3-1 (19-25, 25-13, 25-24, 25-18) and Castleton 3-1 (25-20, 25-14, 25-21, 25-20). In the day's other match, Castleton edged Green Mountain 3-2 (25-14, 26-24, 26-24, 25-15, 15-4).
  • Women's volleyball sunk at St. Joseph's

    The University of Maine at Farmington women's volleyball team fell to St. Joseph's College 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-12) in non-conference action tonight. The Beavers (6-12) are scheduled to close out their regular season Saturday when they host Castleton State College and Green Mountain College in North Atlantic Conference action. The first match is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
  • Vadnais garners NAC rookie distinction

    University of Maine at Farmington middle blocker Jen Vadnais (Arundel, Maine) was named the North Atlantic Conference Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference today. Vadnais helped the Beavers to a 2-1 week with 15 kills and team-high .296 hitting percentage (15-7-27).

    Colby-Sawyer College handled University of Maine at Farmington 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-11) in non-conference women's volleyball action tonight at Dearborn Gymnasium. The Beavers (6-11) are slated to visit St. Joseph's College Tuesday for a 7 p.m. match.
  • Women's volleyball picks up win at USM

    The University of Maine at Farmington women's volleyball team disposed of the University of Southern Maine 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-8) in non-conference action tonight. The Beavers, who lost to USM twice earlier this season, improved to 6-10 and are scheduled to host Colby-Sawyer College tonight at 7 p.m.

    The University of Maine at Farmington women's volleyball team cruised past Unity College 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-19) tonight in non-conference competition at Dearborn Gymnasium. The Beavers (5-10) are scheduled to visit the University of Southern Maine Thursday at 7 p.m.

    The University of Maine at Farmington women’s volleyball team opened North Atlantic Conference play with a pair of victories at Lyndon State College. The Beavers (4-8 overall, 2-0 in the NAC) dispatched the host Hornets 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-13) and Johnson State College 3-0 (25-16, 26-24, 25-8).

    The University of Maine at Farmington women's volleyball team fell to 2-8 with a 3-0 non-conference loss to St. Joseph's College tonight at Dearborn Gymnasium. Set scores went 25-16, 25-21 and 25-23.
  • Women's volleyball falls to UMPI, UNE

    The University of Maine at Farmington women's volleyball team host the University of Maine at Presque Isle and University of New England in non-conference action today at Dearborn Gymnasium. The Beavers fell to UMPI 3-2 (25-11, 25-19, 21-25, 23-25, 15-7) and UNE 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-8). The Nor'Easters topped UMPI 3-0 (25-16, 25-10, 25-13).

    The University of Maine at Farmington dropped to 2-5 with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-8, 25-16) non-conference loss to Husson University tonight. The Beavers are scheduled to host University of New England and University of Maine at Presque Isle on Saturday. The match schedule is: Farmington vs. UMPI, 10 a.m.; UNE vs. UMPI, noon; Farmington vs. UNE, 2 p.m.

    The University of Maine at Farmington women's volleyball team took down the University of Maine at Machias 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-23) in non-conference competition at Dearborn Gymnasium. The Beavers (2-4) are scheduled to visit Husson University for a non-conference match in Bangor Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Clippers (1-5) are scheduled to visit Unity College Sept. 28 at 7 p.m..
  • Women's volleyball's rally comes up short

    The University of Maine at Farmington women's volleyball team rallied for a 2-0 deficit to force a fifth set, but the University of Southern Maine held off the Beavers for the 3-2 (26-24, 25-15, 20-25, 24-26, 15-6) win in non-conference action at Dearborn Gymnasium this afternoon. The Beavers (1-4) are slated to host the University of Maine at Machias Saturday at 2 p.m. The Huskies (2-7) are tabbed to take on the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth and Worcester State College in Gorham on Saturday.

    University of Maine at Farmington middle blocker Jen Vadnais (Arundel, Maine) was named the North Atlantic Conference Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference today. Vadnais kicked off her collegiate career with 25 kills and five errors in 65 attempts (.308 hitting percentage) in four matches as the Beavers started their season 1-3. Vadnais led the team with digs (24) and total blocks (5).

    The University of Maine at Farmington women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at the Colby Invitational today. The Beavers (1-3) fell to the University of Southern Maine 3-2 (12-25, 11-25, 25-19, 25-14, 17-15) and Colby 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-12).

    The University of Maine at Farmington women's volleyball team was defeated by Husson University 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-20) at the Colby Invitational this evening The Beavers (1-1) are tabbed to take on the University of Southern Maine (11:30 a.m.) and Colby (1 p.m.) in Waterville on Saturday.
