Beavers Skate Past Mariners to Reach Semifinals

Farmington, Maine – UMaine Farmington skates past Maine Maritime in the North Atlantic quarter finals of the women's lacrosse tournament on Friday afternoon at Prescott field by a score of 15-4.

This is the first time in program history that the Beavers will be headed to the semifinals to face off against New England College on Sunday at 2:00 PM.

IN THE BOX

The Beavers got on the board first in the opening two minutes when Rhi Jackson scored on a free position shot. The Beavers followed with six unanswered in the opening 11 minutes of the game. UMF closed out the first half with 12 goals, with four goals from Jackson and four goals from Sierra Gilley. Jaclyn Langevin scored two goals while Carly Raymond scored one.

The Mariners of Maine Maritime scored two goals in the first half, Tori Cooper and Briana Obshatkin.

In the second half, the Beavers scored three goals from Rhi Jackson for two and Erica Letellier while the Mariners scored two goals. Madison Barry and Briana Obshatkin each scored.

The Beavers almost doubled the Mariners in ground balls with 24 while MMA had 13. Samantha Bickford tallied seven saves on the day while Christina Wilson and Sierra James combined for nine saves.

The Beavers took a total of 30 shots while the Mariners took 14. UMF also controlled the game in draw controls with 16 to MMA's two.

The Beavers will play on Sunday against New England College with game time set for 2:00 PM.
