Bangor, Maine – What a game the second semifinal matchup of the Women's North Atlantic Conference Basketball Tournament was! The third-seeded UMaine-Farmington Beavers and the second-seeded Maine Maritime Academy Mariners battled it out in Bangor, vying for a spot in the NAC Championship game. It went back and forth, but the Beavers kept attacking and pushing the pace, and in the end got the playoff victory over the Mariners 70-63!
In the Box
- Alex Bessey dropped a game-high 22 points for the Beavers. Bessey was in attack mode throughout the contest, getting to the line, a game-high 20 times and making 17 free-throws. Bessey also had three rebounds, an assist, and shot 1-5 from three.
- Tia Day put on a shooting clinic for UMF, scoring 21 points on 7-10 shooting. Day was the difference maker from the perimeter, going 6-9 from the three-point line. Day's stat line included three rebounds and an assist.
- McKenna Brodeur had another double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Brodeur went 6-13 from the floor, dished out three assists, and was a disruptor on defense with a game-high three steals.
- Lauren Plissey led the Mariners with a 12-point, 12 rebound double-double. Mikayla Charters followed with an 11-point, 10 rebounds double-double of her own.
The Beavers will battle the Husson Eagles tomorrow for the NAC Championship! Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Newman Gymnasium in Bangor.
