Beavers Ready for Semifinal Matchup with Maine Maritime

Farmington, Maine - UMaine-Farmington's women's basketball team will face off with Maine Maritime Academy in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) semifinals on Friday night in Bangor, Maine.

LAST MEETINGS
 
In the first meeting, the Beavers hosted Maine Maritime Academy on February 1st in a 53-50 loss. McKenna Brodeur and Alex Bessey each had 13 points to lead the Beavers offense. Brodeur notched a double-double with 10 rebounds, while Bessey finished with four rebounds and two steals. Tia Day finished with seven points for the Beavers, going 2-7 from the field and 1-5 from three-point range. Day filled up the box sheet as well with three rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Samantha Mason was the high point scorer for the Mariners with 13 points, shooting 5-9 from the floor and 2-2 from three-point range. Lauren Plissey had a double-double of her own, scoring 12 and grabbing 11 rebounds. In the second meeting, the beavers traveled to Maine Maritime Academy on February 15th and fell to the Mariners by a score of 71-57. Alex Bessey led all scorers with 24 points after shooting 9-20 from the floor with six rebounds, one assist, four steals, and two blocks. McKenna Brodeur scored 17 points with six rebounds, two assists with one block while Molly Folsom added six points. Melinda Ogden and Lauren Plissey each scored 20 points as Plissey notched a double-double with 13 rebounds, two assist, one steal, and three blocks. Ogden tallied four rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block. KEY MATCHUPS

The Beavers will look for Tia Day and Alex Bessey to pace their offense with their outside shooting and ability to make their teammates better. The Beavers will also look for first-team All-Conference forward Mckenna Brodeur to own the paint offensively and defensively.  

Maine Maritime Academy will rely on the scoring and playmaking abilities of Melinda Ogden and Lauren Plissey to lead their offense.
