Farmington, Maine – The UMaine-Farmington Beavers and the Husson Eagles Women's Basketball teams spent Valentine's Day battling it out on Len McPhee Court. After being down the first half, the Beavers stormed back in the second half to cut the lead to three points. But the Eagles were able to edge out the win, 56-48.
In the Box
- McKenna Brodeur was the top scorer for the Beavers, scoring 14 points shooting 6-17 from the floor. Brodeur racked up eight rebounds, including a game-high six offensive rebounds.
- Alex Bessey followed up with 13 of her own points. Bessey's stat line included four rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block. Page Brown provided nine points on 4-12 shooting for the Beavers.
- UMF showed a valiant effort throughout the contest. The Beavers fought for their second-chance points, outrebounding the Eagles on the offensive glass 16-10. The Beavers also stymied the Eagles' offense, forcing them to 20 turnovers.
- Joan Overman led the Eagles offense with 14 points on 7-10 shooting. Sami Ireland and Bailey Donovan were the next highest scorers, putting up 13 points each. Donovan also tallied a game-high 20 rebounds.
The Beavers will be back in action tomorrow afternoon. They will travel to Castine to face the Maine Maritime Academy Mariners for a 3:30 p.m. tip-off.
