Beavers Take Two from the Kangaroos

Canton, NY – Game two of the weekend series took place Saturday afternoon between the UMF Beavers team and the SUNY Canton Kangaroos women's teams. SUNY Canton came out firing, especially in the second quarter, but the Beavers clawed their way back in the second half, edging out the Roos for a 58-54 victory.

IN THE BOX

  • McKenna Brodeur set the tone for the Beavers with her fifth double-double of the year. Brodeur dropped a game-high 16 points on 7-14 shooting, to go along with 11 rebounds.
  • Alex Bessey had the next highest point tally with 15 points. Bessey was a force on the defensive end as well with a game-high five steals and a game-high four blocks.
  • Page Brown finished with 11 points on 5-8 shooting for the Beavers. Brown's stat line also included five rebounds, an assist, a block, and a steal as well. The Beavers caused a lot of havoc for the Roos, racking up 20 total steals.
  • Autumn Watkins led the Roos with a game-high 20 points on 8-22 shooting. Watkins nearly had a double-double with nine rebounds, as well as two steals. Joie Culkin had 14 points on 5-10 shooting for SUNY Canton.

The Beavers will head back to Farmington to get ready for a huge home conference matchup versus the Husson Eagles. The game is scheduled for Friday, February 14th with tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
