FARMINGTON, ME – The University of Maine at Farmington (0-4, 0-1 NAC) falls to Husson University (2-0, 1-0 NAC) Tuesday night in Dearborn Gymnasium for the North Atlantic Conference home opener by a score of 92-81.
The Beavers of UMF will fall to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in early stages of conference play while Husson will move to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the North Atlantic Conference.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Kenzie Worcester lead all scorers with 13 points shooting 50 percent from the field (6-12) and 1-2 from three point range for the Eagles.
- Jenessa Talarico finished with 12 points shooting 3-9 overall and 4-5 at the free throw line.
- Courtney Alofs tallied six rebounds while also going 2-2 at the charity strike.
- The Eagles shot 45.1 percent on the day going 32-71 as the Beavers shot 22.8 percent. UMF out shot Husson at the free throw line going 24-30 while Husson went 8-11.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Kenzie Worcester hit the first basket of the game at the eight-minute mark. Husson would jump out to the early 8-0 lead until Kennadi Grover hit a jump shot to get the Beavers on the board.
About half way through the first quarter the Eagles increased their lead to 13 with a score of 15-2. Haley Felkel hit a three pointer with about three and a half minutes left to make the score 15-5.
By the end of the first quarter Husson held a commanding lead of 23-11.
The Eagles would score three quick baskets to open their lead to 29-11. The Beavers got on the board with five minutes left with a three pointer from Cheyenne Malloy.
Husson kept their foot on the gas as they scored seven times to Farmington's four, which push their lead to 25 with about a minute left before half time.
The Beavers opened up the third quarter with hitting multiple free throws, scoring 13 of their 18 points from the charity strike.
UMF also started to cut into the lead. Sydney Petrie made a layup with about two minutes on the clock to make the score 62-37. By the end of the third quarter the Eagles pushed the lead back up to 26 (65-39).
The Beavers opened up the forth quarter scoring first with a layup from Talarico. However, Farmington could not cut into the Eagles lead as held on to win 78-55.
