MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – University of Maine at Farmington nordic skier Alisha Labbe (Turner, Maine/Leavitt) placed tenth overall out of 36 racers at the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) Regional Nordic Championship last weekend, hosted at the Rikert Nordic Center.
In Saturday's 7.5-kilometer skate, Labbe crossed the line at 25:04 for an eighth place finish. In Sunday's 1.2-kilometer sprint race, the sophomore improved a spot from her skate race by coming in seventh place and closed out the weekend with a 17th place finish in the 15-kilometer classic duel. Labbe earned 32 points at the regional event to solidify her spot in the top ten and ranked two points shy of claiming the ninth spot in the rankings.
Megan Morrison (Dixfield, Maine/Dirigo) had a solid weekend as well for the Beavers. Morrison placed 24th in the skate race after crossing the line at 30:09. The freshman followed up with a 25th place finish in the sprint race and closed out the weekend with a 28th place running in the classic race. Morrison accrued 77 points and ranked 24th place in the standings.
In the men's standings, Calen Mendall (Manchester, Maine/Home School) wrapped up the weekend in 13th place. Mendall started the weekend with a 19th place finish in the skate race and dominated the sprint race in sixth place. After coming in 18th place in the classic race, Mendall ranked 13th overall out of 46 racers.
