UMF Snowboard Scores a Pair of Winners at Shawnee Peak

BRIDGTON, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington snowboard team had a pair of winners in the first-ever snowboard free ride and team slope style event at Shawnee Peak on Sunday afternoon. 

In the men's snowboard jam (19-22 age group), Joe Menard won the event with 1,020 points. Menard scored 61, 60, 61, and 61 on his rails and 60.75 on his jumps. Travis St. Pierre followed in second with 910 points. St. Pierre scored 50, 54, 53, and 53 on his rails and 52.50 on his jumps. 

In the men's skier slope style (19-29 age group), Vaughn Keenhold (Braintree, Vt./Randolph Union) came in first place with 1,020 points.  On Keenhold's rails, he saw his best score come on his second run with scores of 52, 53, 56, 56 and 54.25 on his jumps. Isaac Wright (Rutland, Vt./Rutland) was right behind Keenhold in second place with 910 points. Wright had a solid first run on rails with scores of 40, 45, 39, and 37 and 40.25 on jumps. 

The UMaine-Farmington nordic and alpine teams race on Sunday. Nordic will be at Titcomb Mountain while alpine races at Mt Abram.
