Alpine Ski Team Places Second at USCSA Race at Sunday River

NEWRY, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington Alpine Ski Team placed second overall as a team at the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) Men's Giant Slalom race held at Sunday River on Sunday afternoon.

Alex Rose finished as the top UMF skier and placed third overall with a combined time of 2:23:58. Samuel Ricker followed in seventh place and three seconds (2:26:14) behind Rose. William Asbell crossed as UMF's third-best racer with a time of 2:34:61 and a 33rd place finish.

The University of Maine won the Thompson Division men's team competition over UMF by nearly five minutes. Maine completed the event with a combined time of 7:19:75 and the Beavers followed close behind with 7:24:33.

UMaine-Farmington will compete at Hermon Mountain in Hermon, Maine next Saturday.
