NEWRY, Maine -- Alex Rose finished sixth out of 42 qualifying racers at the United States Collegiate Ski Association Thompson Division Men's Giant Slalom held at Sunday River on Sunday afternoon.
Rose finished the event with a combined time of 2:25:03 and only six seconds off the lead pace of Northeastern's Julian Scherding. Sam Ricker was five seconds behind Rose in 14th place with a time of 2:30:82. Alex Stevens came in 24th place (2:41:61) and Jacob Violette finished in 34th place (2:55:35).
As a team, the Beavers walked away with a third place finish, behind Northeastern and Tufts. UMF accrued 44 place points and a total time of 7:37:46. Northeastern won the event with 31 place points and a total time of 7:24:46.
UMaine-Farmington hits the slopes next Saturday at Titcomb Mountain.
