Jacques wins Thompson Division slalom at Sunday River

NEWRY, Maine -- University of Maine at Farmington sophomore Lindsay Jacques took first place in Saturday's USCSA Thompson Division slalom event at Sunday River.

Jacques, who was the lone UMaine-Farmington women's skier to complete both runs, turned in a combined time of 1:35.64 to sit atop the field of 54 competitors who completed two runs.

In the men's slalom race, senior David Berthiaume was the top UMaine-Farmington finisher with a combined time of 1:58.57. Sebastien Dumont (1:58.74) and Sean McCoy (2:02.64) were the only other UMF men to post times in each run.

Junior Alex Rose, whose times have allowed him to dominate in events this season, missed a gate in the first run and was disqualified. Two other Farmington skiers also failed to complete both runs and did not post a combined time.

Both UMaine-Farmington ski teams return to Sunday River on Sunday, Feb. 9, for a Thompson Division giant slalom event.
