UMF men take first at Thompson Division GS event

NEWRY, Maine -- The University of Maine at Farmington men's ski team took first place overall in the second of two giant slalom races held Sunday morning at the Sunday River ski resort.

Alex Rose posted an individual first place finish in the day's second GS race with a time of 44.70. David Berthiaume was 13th overall, seventh among USCSA A competitors, with a time of 48.82. Geoff Ballou was 13th among USCSA A racers with a time of 51.53.

Those three times allowed the Beavers to finish first overall in the race, with a combined time of 2:25.05.

The UMaine-Farmington finished 4th out of 8 teams in the day's first men's GS race.

In the women's races, UMaine-Farmington finished 7th out of 8 teams in the first race, and 8th in the second race.
