Rose and Jacques pace UMF at first USCSA event of 2014

NEWRY, Maine – University of Maine at Farmington junior Alex Rose posted a second place finish to lead all UMF entrants at a USCSA Thompson Division slalom event on Saturday at Sunday River.

Rose posted a combined time of 1:21.01, just .02 seconds off the combined time of the eventual winner, Vermont's Cody Putre.

David Berthiaume was fourth with a combined time of 1:24.66, while Sebastien Dumont was 20th after posting a combined mark of 1:35.04. Jeremy Demers was 41st (2:07.74), Geoff Ballou was 44th (2:09.54), and Sean McCoy was 52nd (2:35.98).

In the women's slalom event, Lindsay Jacques was third overall with a time of 1:31.87, while Meghan Donovan was 24th with a combined time of 1:52.56.

The UMF men's and women's ski teams will compete in a giant slalom event on Sunday, Jan. 5, at Sugarloaf in Carrabassett Valley, Maine.
