Men finish seventh in USCSA Eastern Region GS race

GREENWOOD, Maine – University of Maine at Farmington sophomore Alex Rose (Fayette, Maine) placed fifth overall to lead the Beavers to a seventh place team finish the USCSA Eastern Region giant slalom championships, held Saturday at the Mt. Abram ski area.

In the women's giant slalom race, Meghan Donovan (Westborough, Mass.) was UMaine-Farmington's top finisher in 36th place with a combined time of 2:09.26. Natalie Dumont (Skowhegan, Maine) was 43rd with a combined time of 2:19.17.

No team score in the women's giant slalom was available as of Saturday night.

Rose posted a combined time of 1:42.06, and was UMF's top finisher in the event. Josh Cooley (Vassalboro, Maine) finished 27th with a combined time of 1:48.15, while Dean Ellis (Farmington, Maine) was third among UMaine-Farmington entrants with a combined time of 1:53.06, good enough for 34th place. Geoff Ballou (Chittenden, Vt.) was 35th overall with his combined time of 1:53.65.

Competition concludes on Sunday at Mt. Abram with the slalom event.
