The Beavers head to the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) playoffs against Thomas College starting tomorrow at 9:00 AM.
Thomas College closed out the regular season with a 22-8 overall record, and 11-1 record in conference contests, and earned the top seed in the 2019 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Softball Championship. Husson (21-9 overall) also has an 11-1 NAC record and is the No. 2 seed. UMaine-Presque Isle (15-13, 7-5) is seeded third, and UMaine-Farmington (14-17, 6-6) completes the tournament field.
Predetermined tiebreaking procedures were used to separate Thomas and Husson, who have identical 11-1 conference records. After several steps, Thomas won the tiebreaker with two wins against common non-conference opponent Colby College.
The four-team double elimination tournament will begin with four games on Friday, May 3. Thomas will host UMaine-Farmington in Game 1, followed by Husson and UMaine-Presque Isle in Game 2. The losers of Game 1 and Game 2 will play in Game 3 with the loser exiting the tournament. Game 4 will be played between the winners of Game 1 and Game 2.
Tournament action will continue into Saturday, as the winner of Game 3 takes on the loser of Game 4. Then the winners of Game 4 and Game 5 will square off. If the undefeated team (winner of Game 4) wins, they earn the championship title, but if they are beaten, the tournament will continue onto Sunday with Game 7.
All start times are to be determined and are subject to change.
The NAC tournament champion will earn an automatic bid into the upcoming 2019 NCAA Division III Softball Championship.
