Fried Honored on NAC Second-Team All-Conference, Sportsmanship Team

FARMINGTON, Maine - Junior Jordan Fried with his 12th place finish at the 2018 North Atlantic Conference Championship was named Second-team all-conference. Fried was also named to the NAC All-Sportsmanship team. The NAC Men's Cross Country Sportsmanship Team is reserved for those who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. The honorees are individuals who have positively affected the sports culture and environment, and whose behavior clearly demonstrates sportsmanship and integrity.

Thomas College Junior Jarrod Ottman was the first to cross the line at the 2018 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Men's Cross Country Championship, which earned him NAC Runner of the Year honors. Second-place finisher, Northern Vermont-Lyndon freshman Anthony Pifari earned NAC Rookie of the Year to headline the 2018 All-Conference announcement.

In a vote of the conference coaches and Faculty Athletic Representatives (FARs), Benjamin Cornell of Northern Vermont-Lyndon was honored as the Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Maine Maritime Head Coach Ryan King was selected by his peers as the Coach of the Year and eight men's cross country student-athletes were named to the Sportsmanship Team.

The medalist and the next seven finishers at the NAC Championship are honored as First Team All-Conference runners, and the next seven are named to the All-Conference Second Team.

Joining Ottman and Pifari on the All-Conference First Team are Jesse Walley and Benjamin York of SUNY Canton; Zach Hartman and Joel Bond of Husson; Alyen Wolf of Maine Maritime, and Benjamin Cornell of Northern Vermont-Lyndon.

Second team honorees include Jarrod Hooper and Alister Piccini of Thomas; Matthew Francis of NVU-Lyndon, Jeremy Gundrum of SUNY Canton, Ricky Smith of Husson, Liam Veverkaof Maine Maritime, and Jordan Fried of UMaine-Farmington.
