BRUNSWICK, Maine --- The University of Maine at Farmington men's cross country placed sixth out of twelve teams at the Maine Collegiate Championship on Saturday, hosted by Bowdoin College.
Robert Hollis led the Beavers with a 23rd place finish. The sophomore crossed the line at 26:35, which was only five seconds away from grabbing a top 20 spot. Connor Wagner followed in 45th with a time of 27:25. Austin Gatcomb also landed in the top 60 with an overall time of 27:59. Colby's Silas Eastman won the event by topping the competition of 177 racers at 25:10. The Beavers set six personal best records in the 8k race.
The team placed sixth with 187 total points and a combined time of 2:19:51. UMF trailed the University of New England by 37 points for a top five spot. Bates grabbed the crown with 24 points and beat second-place finisher Colby by 21 points.
UMaine-Farmington will compete in the North Atlantic Conference Championship on Saturday, October 31, hosted by Husson University.
