Cold temperatures, sunny skies, the only thing missing at the Roderick 10km Classic race was the Black Mountain breeze! The UMF Nordic team continues to make progress as they prepare for Regionals this week at Gore Mountain in NY. Isaiah Reid was once again the top gun, and swapped the lead with UMPI's Conner Nilson several times. Isaiah's better kick wax enabled him to stride up the hills but Nilson's better glide allowed him to pull ahead on the downhills. Isaiah has closed the gap from 30 seconds in a 5km race at PI three weeks ago to 5 seconds in this 10km race. Game on at Regionals!

Jason Labbee was third, his best classic race this year by far. His second lap was 41 seconds faster than his first, which shows he has plenty in the tank. Thomas "Chaga Man" turned in a strong performance to end up 4th, and was also faster on the second lap. Jordan Fried continues to regain his form and ended up 5th overall, 40 seconds ahead of Connor Marland, who was battling a cold. Having the team members swap places every race makes it interesting and we will have to wait to see who comes out on top at Regionals.
Mullein Francis skied her way into 3rd place and continues to improve her technique. The slow snow didn't allow her to use her strong double pole but hopefully, we have seen the last of 10-degree race conditions!
The team will be for running the MPA State Meets this week at Titcomb and talking to recruits about the UMF Nordic Program.
