Farmington, Maine - The Beavers Nordic team complete their first official races of the season, coming off a solid week of training. Spring-like weather, and low snow coverage made for some tough conditions and less than ideal ski speeds. Though despite the conditions the Beavers were able to pull off some nice finishes and get back into racing mode.
Saturdays 6k classic race at home course Titcomb allowed the Beavers to get a feel for their fellow teammate's strengths on the race course. Transfer Isaiah Reid led the team with a 20:04 finish and for the ladies, Leah Hardy came in with 29:38 and Megan Morrison just seconds behind with 29:42.
Sundays 7.5k skate race at Black Mountain allowed for some more competition in the field. With Bates leading the women side Saylor Strugar coming in at 28:50. For the men, Isaiah Reid pulled off a double win this weekend with a finish of 21:24.
"I was super impressed by all this week, during training camp as well as this weekends races. They have all been putting in the time, and it's starting to show." - Coach Lauren Olson
Next week the team heads up to Presque Isle for the Chummy Broomhall, The Maine Ski cup where they will be racing against other Maine Collegiate teams.
