Waterville, Maine – Colby College beat UMaine Farmington on Monday night at Coombs field by a score of 7-4 in non-conference action.
The Mules move to 7-16 on the year while UMF falls to 2-14.
How It Happened
Ryan Pratt was tagged with the loss after throwing 2.2 innings when Pratt came in to pitch in the fifth inning. Justin Rodrigue started the game for the Mules, throwing 5.1 innings, giving up 11 hits, four earned runs with two strike outs.
The Mules had five different pitchers throw, Will Cohen started the game going five innings, giving up seven hits, three earned runs with three strike outs. Will Phillips threw one inning along with Matt Reasor who threw an inning as well. Daniel Schoenfeld came on in relief for two outs and left it for Jackson Ward to close the deal.
Tyler Mulberry went 2-4 with two runs for the Mules while Andrew Sterup went 1-3 with two runs and an RBI. George Schmidt went 2-3 with two RBI's along with Ben Coleman who went 2-5 with two RBI's and a run.
The Mules got on the board first when Sterup homered to right field followed by Mulberry tagging up on a sac fly to left field.
UMF got on the board in the top of the fourth when Chickering singled to left to score Chad Snowman, Ethan Gouin then doubled to center to score Chickering which tied the game at two. The Mules got one run back in the bottom of the fourth. The Beavers battled at the plate to score another run in the fifth and one more in the sixth to take a 4-3 lead in the sixth. The Mules came back again the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at four and scored three more runs in the eighth to take the 7-4 victory.
