Parents Guide for your college-bound student:
Incoming students have been given a username and password which they will need to get into myCampus. From there, click (Student Services) and click on (Athletics.) They will find a link that says Preseason Checklist & Key Dates to Remember. That document has all of the information they will need for preseason participants.
Steps for preseason participants
1 - Confirm your eligibility
First-year student-athletes need to be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours. All others can find more information on myCampus.
2 - Complete the online Forms (Intent to Participate, Code of Conduct, and NCAA Forms)
(THE ONLY WAY TO ACCESS THESE FORMS IS THROUGH A LINK PROVIDED BY EMAIL FROM THEIR COACH. THEY SHOULD CONTACT THEIR RESPECTIVE COACH IF THEY NEED ASSISTANCE WITH THIS LINK). For coaches contact information, please visit our directory.
3 - Submit the required medical forms
NEW STUDENT-ATHLETES: Please download the appropriate .pdf file on MyCampus containing the required forms; please note that included in these forms is an athletic physical/medical clearance to participate in athletics that MUST be completed by your family physician.
RETURNING STUDENT-ATHLETES: Please download the appropriate .pdf file on MyCampus
BOTH NEW AND RETURNING STUDENT-ATHLETES: All medical forms must be returned by mail, e-mail, or FAX by the appropriate date for your sport.
4 - Submit the online “Residence Life Early Arrival Request” Form
*** This step is required only for fall student-athletes who will be living in residence halls. ***
This form can be found on myCampus. Move in time is 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Meals: All Fall sport student-athletes participating in preseason tryouts/practices are expected to attend dinner on campus in the South Dining Hall on Saturday, Aug. 24, before heading to the mandatory preseason program. Breakfast and lunch that day are on your own. Meals will ONLY be provided for a) on-campus residential student-athletes, or b) commuter/off-campus students who have identified as having pre-purchased full meal plans with the UMF Dining Services. (In other words, “commuter” students who are not on full on-campus meal plans remain responsible for their own meals during pre-season as well.)
Note: For winter and spring sport athletes, non-competition day “meal money” during breaks (i.e. days during winter break, February break, April break, etc., when there are practices but no games) will ONLY be distributed to a) on campus residential student-athletes on board, or b) commuter/off-campus students who have pre-purchased full meal plans with UMF Dining Services. (In other words, “commuter” students who are not on full on-campus meal plans remain responsible for their own meals during academic breaks as well.)
Change in Plans: If you have received this letter by email in error or do not plan to try out for a varsity team, please notify Wendy Harvey at email@example.com, (207-778-7147), so we can adjust our contact lists. If a coach was expecting you to try out and something has changed, you should let him/her know directly as well.
Key Dates for 2019-20
Wednesday, July 31st – All pre-participation forms for all anticipated student-athletes for all sports are due.

- Sports Physical Clearance
- Plus, Residence Life Early Arrival/medical forms, if you’ll try out for Cross Country (M&W), Field Hockey, Golf and Soccer (M&W)
Saturday, Aug. 24th – Move in day
- 11:30 am – 1:00 pm – Check-in in South Dining Hall (NO LUNCH)
- Afternoon - Look to hear from your coach regarding team meetings
- 5:00 pm – Dinner (All fall sport student-athletes, expected and athletics staff encouraged to come)
- 7:00 pm – Orientation Session (mandatory for all fall sport athletes)
Saturday, Aug 31st – New Student Orientation (NSO) begins
Monday, Sep. 2nd – First Day of classes for Fall 2017 Semester
Dates for first meetings/practices for fall non-traditional and winter sports seasons will be posted later.
Assume Fall non-trad: baseball, women’s lacrosse, and softball will meet the first week and begin the practice by the second week of Fall. Winter (basketball/ski/snowboard as well, as track and field, will also meet early in the semester and identify pre-season conditioning opportunities and when practice begins.)
