FARMINGTON, Maine - Senior Gwen Baker and junior Hunter Michaud have been named UMF Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances.
Gwen Baker, who is a senior on the women's cross country team ran a time of 25:36.0 to lead UMF in the very competitive Bowdoin College Invitational. The race which was run in tough windy, cold, rainy conditions featured some of the top teams in New England. Despite the conditions and tough field, Baker was able to finish 38th. Baker will lead her team in the North Atlantic Conference Championships on October 28th in Belfast.
Hunter Michaud, a junior on the men's soccer team had a huge game on Saturday. Michaud scored two goals as UMF narrowly missed an upset bid at Nothern Vermont-Johnson. The first goal gave the visiting Beavers an early 1-0 advantage and his second sent UMF into halftime with a 3-0 lead. Michaud and the men's soccer team will travel to the University of Maine Presque Isle for a North Atlantic Conference contest.
