University of Maine at Farmington's Director of Athletics, Julie Davis, is pleased to announce the hiring of Joseph DiSalvo as the head coach for men's and women's cross country and outdoor track and field teams.
"We welcome Coach DiSalvo to the UMF team. We are confident that the rich experience and expertise he brings to our department and University will continue to build our programs and develop our student-athletes holistically" said Davis.
DiSalvo comes to UMF with three years of collegiate coaching experience. Most recently, he was on the Cross Country and Track and Field coaching staff at Saint Joseph's College of Maine, while also serving as an area coordinator in Student Life and as an adjunct faculty member. Prior to this position, he earned a Master's degree in Human Performance at Ithaca College, while serving as a graduate assistant coach with Cross Country and Track and Field. There, he contributed to two Empire 8 conference championships and was part of the Conference Coaching Staff of the Year for Cross Country. He coached individual student-athletes to the National Championships during three consecutive seasons. He is a USATF Level 1 certified coach.
Joseph DiSalvo is a graduate of Saint Joseph's College where he earned a B.S. in Exercise Science. He was recognized on the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Academic Team and was also part of the GNAC Sportsmanship Team. He served as captain of both the cross country team and track and field teams for three years.
