Beavers end season at New Englands

FARMINGTON -- The University of Maine at Farmington finished 41st at the NCAA Division III New England Women's Cross Country Championships today at Bowdoin College.

Middlebury College (55 points) edged out Williams College (60) to win the event. MIT (134), Amherst College (142) and Tufts University (181) to round out the top five in the 51-team field. The Beavers totaled 1,218 points.

Salena Sykes (Island Pond, Vt.) was UMF's top finisher with a time of 25:13.90 on the 6K course to finish in 194th place. Cadyn Wilson (Hallowell, Maine) in 214th at 25:35.42, Rachel Huber (Bangor, Maine) in 248th in 26:17.94, Keeley Cronin (Buxton, Maine) in 262nd in 26:38.08 and Elizabeth Stevenson (Raymond, Maine) in 303rd in 27:56.97 complete the Beavers' scoring.

Chiara Del Piccolo of Williams turned in the best time at 20:52.43 to earn medalist honors. There were 353 runners.
