Morrison, Neptune receive all-conference recognition
FARMINGTON, Maine -- University of Maine at Farmington senior midfielder Emma Morrison (Saco, Maine) and attacker Alyssa Neptune (Readfield, Maine) were honored by North Atlantic Conference East Division coaches with all-conference distinction as announced by the NAC today.
All-conference selections are determined by a vote of the conference coaches.
Morrison returned to the All-NAC East First Team after being selected in 2011, while Neptune earned the nod on the All-NAC East Second Team.
Morrison, also a NAC East All-Tournament selection in each of the past two seasons, led the Beavers in goals (27), points (32), draw controls (46) and caused turnovers (14).
Neptune, also a NAC East All-Tournament selection in 2012, netted 19 goals, second on the team. She also dug out 24 ground balls and grabbed 12 draw controls.
New England College senior midfielder Amanda Naimie was named the NAC East Women's Lacrosse Player of the Year in a vote of the league's coaches. Naimie was a catalyst to NEC advancing to the East Division Championship game in its first year in the conference.
Castleton fresh-year attack Kate Auer earned Rookie of the Year honors, while Castleton junior Danielle Roberts was honored as the league's top defender. New England College head Coach Jill Jones Grotnes earned Coach of the Year honors. Castleton was honored with the Team Sportsmanship Award.
The Beavers recently completed their season at 5-6.
