BEAVERS' BEST OF 2011: Keough wins giant slalom at USCSA National Championships in March

SUN VALLEY, Idaho -- University of Maine at Farmington junior snowboarder Katie Keough (Cumberland, Maine) won the women's giant slalom at the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association National Championships today at Sun Valley.

Keough edged out Loyola Marymount University's Kaylee Taylor for the victory. Keough turned in a two-run time of 1:51.6 to Taylor's 1:52. Keough clocked the fast finish on the first run, clocked at 57.30. Westminister College's Desiree Diselrod (1:56.5) was the only other of the 31 racers to complete both runs in less than two minutes.

Keough, the lone Farmington racer at this year's USCSA National Championships, is a two-time USCSA All-American in the women's giant slalom. The senior placed ninth in the event at Sunday River in 2010.

Keough continues to compete in the USCSA National Championships this week at Sun Valley. Next up for Keough is boardercross qualifying on Wednesday.
