UMF's Prescott Field was in great condition when the Mariner's came to challenge the Beavers. The two teams played aggressively battling for the ball but it was MMA that was able to capitalize on their intensity. The Mariner's Abdullah Alkhayyat (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) scored unassisted on a free kick from about 30 yards out at 10:50. This did not slow down UMF, they continued to play hard ending the half with seven shots on goal compared to MMA's four.
The games intensity level stayed high during the second half even though it was scoreless. At the end, UMF had 11 shots on goal, MMA had four. Goal keeper Derek Reilly (Hollis-Brookline, NH) made one save for UMF and MMA's goal keeper William Trace Lacour (Charlottesville, VA) made three saves.
UMF Men's Soccer is looking forward to their next game at St. Joseph's College (ME) on Tuesday September 20th at 4pm.
