FARMINGTON, Maine -- Maine Maritime Academy downed the University of Maine at Farmington 15-5 in North Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse action this afternoon at Prescott Field.

The Beavers (2-10 overall, 1-7 NAC) and Mariners (5-8, 5-3) await the NAC postseason seedings. The tournament is slated to begin Saturday.

Alex Hermes (Fallsington, Pa.) netted four goals and grabbed 11 ground balls and Andrew DiSalvo (Glastonbury, Conn.) added three goals and three assists as MMA blistered the Beavers with 55 shots to the hosts' 19. Nicholas Betti (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) also added three goals to go along with two helpers in the win followed by Brian Corain (Berwick, Maine) with two goals an assist, Tom Houle (Manchester, N.H.) and Cameron Wyman (Limerick, Maine) with a goal and an assist each and Evan Carrier (Lewiston, Maine) with a score.

Brandon Melville (Farmington, Maine) and Matt Roy (Kents Hill, Maine) led the Beavers offensively with two goals and an assist apiece with Ben Altmaier (Wilton, Maine) chipping in a goal.

Hermes opened the scoring with an unassisted tally 1:05 into the game, but UMF answered with a Melville man-up tally to tie the game at 1-1. Betti tallied a pair of goals as the Mariners scored four more times in the first for a 5-1 lead.

Following a Matt Roy score, the Mariners ripped off five straight scores --finished by back-to-back DiSalvo goals -- to take a 9-2 lead into intermission.

DiSalvo, Carrier and Wyman each scored over the first 3:22 of the fourth to give MMA a 15-2 cushion. The Beavers tallied three goals over the final 5:02 for the 15-5 final.

Hunter Rowell (West Paris, Maine) made 21 saves in goal for UMF. Aaron Burr (Brooklyn, Conn.) worked the first 1:05 of the game in goal. Burr and Greg Estes (Bradford, Maine) were honored prior to the game as the senior student-athletes on the men's lacrosse team.
