GORHAM, Maine- Eric Aguiar (Thornton, N.H./Plymouth) shot a 76 on Day Two of the USM Fall Classic on Monday. Aguiar jumped from 31st overall position to 13th position with the second-day performance to lead University of Maine Farmington golf team to a top five finish.
Michael Richard (Turner, Maine/St.Doms) had another solid day, shooting a 79 to finish in a tie for 13th overall.
The opening round of the tournament was shortened to nine holes due to rain, while Monday's conditions were challenging with 30-mile per hour gusts on the course.
UMF placed fifth out of 10 teams with a score of 479 (163-316). Husson University, which led after day one of the tourney, remained in the top spot on day two totaling a score of 449 (145-304). The host University of Southern Maine remained in second place with a 459(150-309).
Trevor Hisler (Skowhegan,Maine/Skowhegan) jumped eight spots in the standings by shooting an 80 on day two to finish tied for 29th. Gavin Brickley (Plymouth, N.H./Plymouth) also improved on day two shooting an 81 (tied for 35th) and Matt Pelletier (South Portland, Maine/South Portland) finished with an 87 to round out the scoring for the Beavers.
UMaine-Farmington will compete in the North Atlantic Championship on Saturday and Sunday in Bangor.
