KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine -- University of Maine at Farmington's Jacob Roddy (Belgrade, Maine) fired the best round of his collegiate career to finish as the runner-up at the University of New England Invitational at Cape Arundel Golf Club today.
Both Endicott College and the host Nor'Easters finished with a 298 combined score amongst their top four scores. The Gulls won the event via matching cards of their No. 5 players. University of Southern Maine (304), UMF (309) and Saint Joseph's College of Maine (337) completed the field.
Roddy turned in a 71 to lead the Beavers. Endicott's Jack Wyman finished with a 70 to take medalist honors.
The Beavers' Orion Cochrane (Greenville, Maine) was on the heels of Roddy with a 73 followed by Joe Messerman (Brunswick, Maine) at 82, Mike Lawson (Williamsburg TWP, Maine) at 83 and Cameron Audet (Windham, Maine) at 87.
UMF is scheduled to close out its regular season this weekend at the North Atlantic Conference Championships at the Country Club of Vermont in Waterbury, Vt., on Saturday and Sunday.
