Beavers finish ninth at Bowdoin Invitational
BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The University of Maine at Farmington men's golf team opened its 2011 season with a ninth-place finish at the two-day Bowdoin Invitational at Brunswick Golf Club.
Husson University won the tournament with a two-day total of 616 with St. Anselm College (630) and Williams College (641) rounding out the top three. The Beavers turned in a 691 to finish ninth in the 10-team field.
Joe Messerman (Brunswick, Maine) led UMF with 161 to place 15th out of 54 golfers. Orion Cochrane (Greenville, Maine) at 166, Jacob Roddy (Belgrade, Maine) at 176 and Mike Lawson (Williamsburg, Maine) at 188 completed the Beavers' scoring.
Chris Hamel of Husson earned top medalist recognition at 144.
