A former standout field hockey player at the University of New Hampshire and a product of Mt. Blue High School, Cynthia Pratt became the University of Maine at Farmington Field Hockey Head Coach in 2004 and the Softball Head Coach in 2009.
Pratt was elevated to the position of head field hockey coach following seven years as an assistant, replacing longtime coach Beth Evans. Pratt has guided the Beavers to three North Atlantic Conference Tournament Championships and NCAA Division III Tournament berths. The team has also shined academically as the Beavers have received the National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Award each of the last eight seasons.
Pratt also serves as an assistant athletics
director with numerous administrative and coordinator
responsibilities. As the advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory
Committee, Pratt coordinates the student-athletes' involvement in
community service projects as well as the NCAA Choices Grant,
awarded for campus alcohol prevention and educational
programming.
Prior to becoming the assistant AD and head coach, Pratt was an
elementary physical education teacher in Skowhegan and had also
served as the department head in previous years. Her coaching
experience also includes two years as assistant women’s
basketball coach at Farmington, a graduate assistant field hockey
coach at UNH, and a variety of coaching positions with Skowhegan
Area High School.
Pratt received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees
from UNH. She currently resides in New Sharon with her husband,
Scott, and their two sons.
