FARMINGTON, Maine - Molly Folsom and Milani Hicks have been named UMaine-Farmington's Student-Athletes of the Week.
Folsom, a freshman on the women's basketball team, made the game-winning basket on Saturday with less than a second on the clock. The basket gave UMF a 63-61 victory over the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Folsom scored a team-high 16 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, shooting four for seven from the field and eight for eight from the free throw line. She added five offensive rebounds. On Friday, Folsom scored six points, going two for three from the field and two for two from the line. On the season she is shooting 95% from the free throw line (19-20).
Hicks, a senior on the men's basketball team, scored his 1000th career point on Friday. He had team-high 21 points in the Beaver's 84-74 win over the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Hicks added 13 rebounds and five steals in the win. On Saturday, Hicks scored 13 points and pulled down seven rebounds as UMF completed a two-game sweep of the Owls with an 80-74 win.
