2004 Women's Soccer Season Preview

The 2004 UMF women's soccer team adds some young talent to a strong returning core which hopes to repeat as North Atlantic Conference champions and make another appearance in the NCAA national tournament.  Returning players Erin Campbell (2003 conference Rookie of the Year) and Jodi Welch (2003 conference tournament Most Valuable Player) will again lead the offense after combining to score 34 goals and 26 assists last year.  Sophomores Kelsey Burk, Heidi Parker, and Molly Bell will add to the attack at midfield.  Senior captains Mari Kimball and Erin Findlan will play back and midfield respectively.  Joining the defense will be Katie Schwartz and Susan Murray.  Megan McCrum will return to the lineup in a few weeks after recovering from off season knee surgery.  There will be a battle for the goalkeeper slot with Melissa Demerchant, Alix Raymond and Megan Goodrow each getting playing time.  UMF's traditionally strong non-conference schedule that features Colby College, Bates College and the University of Southern Maine will prepare them well for another appearance in the NCAA tournament.
