STANDISH -- The University of Maine at Farmington women's cross country team won the Runnin' Monks Invitational for the third straight season today at St. Joseph's College.
The Beavers scored 23 points with the five scorers in the top 10, including four of the first five to cross the finish line in the 5K race. It's the third straight victory for the Beavers at the Runnin' Monks Invitational.
Johnson & Wales University (56), Lasell College (121), St. Joseph's College (126), University of Maine at Presque Isle (127), Lyndon State College (134), Maine Maritime Academy (149) and Rivier College (197) completed the field.
Maine Maritime's Rachel Sincebaugh won the race in 21:19, but was followed by four Beavers. Emily Farley (Bernard, ME) was the runner-up at 21:33 with Molly Carl (York, ME) third at 21:34, Caitlin Miller (Pepperell, MA) fourth at 21:43 and Salena Sykes (Island Pond, VT) fifth at 21:45. Meaghan Champagne (Littleton, NH) finished Farmington's win in ninth at 22:36.
The Beavers are scheduled to visit St. Joseph's College next Saturday.
