WATERVILLE -- The University of Maine at Farmington women's cross country team came in fifth place at the State of Maine Championships today at Colby College.
The host Mules won the event with 31 points followed by Bowdoin College (44), Bates College (62), University of Southern Maine (93), the Beavers (156), University of New England (163), Maine Maritime Academy (222) and St. Joseph's College (227).
Emily Farley (Bernard, ME) paced the Beavers with a 31st-place finish on the 5K course in 20:51.90 with teammate Caitlin Miller (Pepperell, MA) on her heels at 32nd in 20:52.90. Salena Sykes (Island Pond, VT) at 36th in 20:58.70, Molly Carl (York, ME) at 37th in 21:01.40 and Meaghan Champagne (Littleton, NH) at 63rd in 21:58.30 completed Farmington's scoring.
Katrina Gravel of Colby College won the race in 18:59.50.
The Beavers are off until Oct. 31 when they are scheduled to travel to Green Mountain College for the North Atlantic Conference Championships.
