of Maine at Farmington sophomore forward Caitlyn
Laflin (Farmingdale, ME) was selected as the
North Atlantic Conference Player of the Year in a
vote by the league's women's basketball coaches as
announced by the conference this afternoon.
Laflin, last season's NAC Rookie of the Year, led
the league inscoring, was ranked second in field
goal percentage and third in rebounding. The
sophomore shot 50.0 percent from the floor while
averaging 21.8 points and 9.4 rebounds for the
Beavers.
Junior guard Amanda Byrne (Winslow, ME)
earned NAC Honorable
Mention honors. Byrne led the conference in assists
with 5.93 per game and averaged more than two steals
per game.
The
University of Maine at Farmington women's basketball team and
the North Atlantic Conference Think Pink to raise awareness and
money to fight breast cancer.
