Laflin adds to weekly awards
FARMINGTON -- Sophomore forward Caitlyn Laflin (Farmingdale, ME) was honored as the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week on Monday.
Laflin -- recognized Monday as the North Atlantic Conference Player of the Week -- averaged 16.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, two assists and just under two blocks per game in the team's 2-1 week.
Farmington (3-2) is scheduled to host Bates College on Wednesday.
On Sunday in the Williams Holiday Classic consolation game, Laflin drained three free throws with no time remaining to allow the Beavers to slip out of Williamstown, Mass., with a 67-66 win over Lasell College. Laflin finished with 20 points and eight rebounds. On Friday in opening round action, she scored 12 points and snared eight rebounds in Farmington's 76-53 loss to Endicott College.
Laflin also powered the Beavers to a 69-58 NAC victory over Thomas College on Wednesday with team-highs of 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Also on Monday, freshman guard Jillian Ross (Belfast, ME) was also honored as the NAC Co-Rookie of the Week. Ross came off the bench to provide some punch for the Beavers in a 2-1 week. Ross tallied eight points and grabbed seven boards in a 69-58 win over NAC foe Thomas. She also added eight points in a 76-53 loss to Endicott in the opening round of the Williams Holiday Classic.
