Women's basketball slips at Husson

BANGOR -- Husson College used a second-half rally to get by the University of Maine at Farmington women's basketball team for a 76-72 win in North Atlantic Conference action on Monday at Newman Gymnasium.

The Eagles improved to 3-4 with the win in their NAC opener, while the Beavers dropped to 3-5 (1-1).

Farmington marched into intermission with a 44-36 command and pushed the lead to 13 points early in the second half. Husson hung close and went on a 14-0 run over a 4:19 span late in the contest to seize the lead with a Noelle Lincoln 3-pointer making it 74-70 with 2:02 left in the game.

Caitlyn Laflin (Farmingdale, ME) notched double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Beavers, while Erin Porter (Bangor, ME) also threw in 13 points and Samantha Wiley (Lincolnville, ME) and Ashley Busque (Belgrade, ME) added 12 points apiece. Amanda Byrne (Winslow, ME) led the team with eight assists.

Shelby Bradford paced the Eagles with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Jenny Rollins supplied 17 points.

Farmington is off for the holiday break until the Beavers are scheduled to visit Bates College on Jan. 6.
